WR’s drop like flies, Giants drop to 0-5

When Odell Beckham Jr. went down so did the New York Giants.

Up 22-20 in the fourth quarter, Eli Manning threw to Bechkham Jr. The high pass bounced of Beckham Jr.’s hands and when he came down he didn’t get back up from what appears to be an ankle injury. With four minutes remaining, New York Giants blew the lead and consequently the game losing 27-22, Sunday. The loss drops the squad to 0-5.

This was the game they anticipated their first game against the winless Los Angeles Chargers. This was supposed to be the “breaking point” and why Beckham Jr. told his teammates to hold their heads high like a nose bleed. Instead, the breaking point came with Beckham Jr. suffering what may been a severe injury. On top of this, their no. 2 and no. 3 wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard left the game early due to injuries.

Through five weeks is the team with Super Bowl expectations prior to the season already written off?

“Just keep working…You learn a lot about yourself in times like these,” head coach Ben McAdoo said during the post game press conference. “You got to work for your teammates, we’re all pro’s, this is what we get paid to do. You need to win, not compete.”

For a team that lost five games during the regular season last year, they find themselves down 0-5 through five weeks. The team won’t know Beckham Jr.’s status until Monday.

Stuck in a winless rut, a reporter asks McAdoo “where you go from here?”

“Back to work,” McAdoo responded before leaving the podium.

Giants will travel to take on Denver Broncos next Sunday.
