Carmelo Anthony headed to Houston, Chad Johnson reports

Is Carmelo Anthony finally leaving his hometown for a run with Houston Rockets?

Anthony, longtime New York Knick, is said to waive his “no-trade” clause with the Knicks only if he’s being traded to Cleveland Cavaliers to join his team USA teammate LeBron James or the Houston Rockets. Knicks recently fired team President of Basketball Operations Phil Jackson who feuded with Anthony and even went to the press asking for Anthony to waive his clause. Now that Anthony stood his ground until Jackson was fired, he’s open to leaving as it’s on his own terms.

As Anthony has narrowed this to a two-team sweepstakes one athlete says Anthony is joining the Rockets.

“Houston Rockets loading up heavy w/ Melo on the way according to sources close to me…,” former NFL athlete and current AFFL athlete Chad Johnson tweeted Sunday night.

Rockets have acquired Chris Paul from the Los Angeles Clippers last week via trade to join forces with NBA MVP finalist James Harden and NBA Coach of the Year Mike D’Antoni.

Anthony’s wife, La La, said staying closer to his home in New York is his priority, La La said on the Wendy Williams Show last week. If Anthony is headed to Houston, it seems he is definitely sold on the team’s current state as a title contender. Last season Rockets made a Western Conference Semi-finals appearance. Equipped with himself and Paul, they could go a little further.
