Moving on up.

Tim Tebow will be promoted to high Class A to play for the Mets affiliate in St. Lucie, Florida, according to Columbia Fireflies. Immediately after the Fireflies ball game at 5:05 pm E.S.T. Tebow will be headed to his home state. After playing in the instructional league last fall, Tebow was sent to the Columbia Fireflies Class A team after spring training this season.

“Everybody here has been super supportive…this next opportunity, I’m going to take it head on and try to have a lot of fun as well,” Tebow said in a special press conference before Sunday’s ball game.

Before playing his final game as a Firefly, Tebow accumulated a .222 batting average through 63 games with 47 hits in 212 at bats. Tebow has 14 doubles, one triple, with three home runs, 23 RBI’s and walks, and has scored 29 runs for his ball club.

“I know that I got a long way to go, I’m still improving,” Tebow said. “I learned so much…for me it was the first time to get to really play professional baseball.”

Through 63 games played this experience is still an adjustment but he’s getting more comfortable, Tebow said. Down in Florida Tebow’s goal remains the same, to constantly improve. Leaving the Fireflies is a bit bittersweet for Tebow.

“The goal is when you are somewhere hopefully you leave it a little bit better than you found it,” Tebow said. “The people here [also] had a great impact on me.”
