Revis Island to Dallas, Dez Bryant wants to see it happen

A Hall of Fame cornerback could potentially be headed to Dallas to help their secondary.

Earlier this offseason Darrelle Revis was cut by the rebuilding New York Jets ending Revis Island’s second stint with the Jets after reuniting in 2015. Still a free agent, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant pitched to Revis that he would be a good fit on America’s favorite team.

“@Revis24 Dallas? ….I promise you are going to love what we got going on around here..your attitude fits our culture…waiting…..,” Bryant tweeted to Revis Saturday.

One of the found memories Bryant may have of Revis was when they competed against each other during the 2011 season opener. It was primetime Sunday Night Football at MetLife Stadium in New York between the Jets and Cowboys on the 10-year anniversary of 9/11.

The two were at each other’s throats that game but Revis ultimately won the battle with a game winning interception in the final minutes of the fourth quarter that helped the Jets overcome a 24-10 deficit in the final quarter to win 27-24: Quarterback Mark Sanchez recorded the game winning drive setting up the winning field goal after the Revis interception.

As the Jets have been parting ways with many veterans this season including David Harris, Brandon Marshall, Nick Mangold, plans to move Eric Decker and a purge of other veterans, Jets may have done Revis a favor. Joining Dallas, a team that went 13-3 last season led by two rookies on offense, a little help on defense could put them over the edge as Super Bowl contenders this 2017 season.

The last team Revis was linked to was his hometown team Pittsburgh Steelers, when Revis stated he’d like to play for the team he grew up watching.
