Kansas City Chiefs running back Charcandrick West has a new music video out with a 10-year-old girl as they are both battling arthritis together.

West and Jillian Reid collaborated on “Body of Steel” to tell their story of battling arthritis to raise awareness under Singing for Superheroes. Singing for Superheroes is an organization that raises awareness for children with illness and disabilities through creating original music.

“We felt like the children with illnesses and disabilities are the real superheroes, and we felt that music could uplift them and motivate them to keep fighting daily,” Steven Battey, founder of Singing for Superheroes, wrote in a direct message.

Affion Crockett and AudreyDBA are also featured in this music video directed by Evan J. Schmidt that inspires children battling juvenile arthritis to “take one step at a time.”

At the end of the music video West talked with Reid about a time when doctors told him he wouldn’t be able to play football again with his arthritis.

“That was kind of my dream…to tell a kid that you can’t live out your dreams is kind of a depressing moment, but I have a great family, great support system,” West told Reid. “You said you want to be a normal kid, I feel like you are very normal, you are beyond normal.”

This organization’s founder Battey is a four-time Grammy nominated songwriter who has used his passion and skills to help children.
